MISSION AND PURPOSE:

Welcome to the Fortuna Elementary District EXCEL Expanded Learning Program. This program is operated under the supervision of the site principal and the site coordinator of the EXCEL Expanded Learning Program. The program will provide a quality after-school experience for students.  A variety of enriching activities which include arts & crafts, games, sports, quiet study time, homework assistance, and “free time” for children to pursue their own interests, are provided in a fun, safe, friendly environment. In addition, tutoring help is available for students who need academic assistance. The Expanded Learning Program is funded and operated under guidelines set up by the State Department of Education After School Education and Safety program (ASES). Priority is given to students attending all 5 days. The EXCEL program is $20 per week for students attending all 5 days. Otherwise, students are charged $5 per day. The program uses this funding to provide students with fun activities, materials, and field trips throughout the year. Families requiring scholarships should fill out the "EXCEL Scholarship Request Form."

The EXCEL Expanded Learning Program will provide quality, affordable services that allow input from staff, parents, and children to consistently improve and create dynamic programs. A caring, nurturing, stimulating environment that promotes physical, social, academic, and mental growth will be provided to all participants.  We recognize the uniqueness of the individual child, family, and community in which we reside and strive to provide a safe place for children to learn through shared experiences and to better understand the world around them.
